The Air Max 1 ‘Amsterdam’ pays tribute to the City of Sin with design elements ranging from the obvious to the discreet. The shoe is made up of luxurious, tactile materials such as suede, nubuck and heavy tumbled leather. The brown and red hues nod to the city centre’s brick buildings and pebbled roads, which are also reflected in the mix of textures in the materials. The pop of green in the Swoosh is taken from the traditional canal house doors and window frames. Finally, no Amsterdam design would be complete without a map of the canals and the famous XXX coat of arms, which are embroidered on the heel and side-panel respectively.
